Is It Worth Remodeling a Modular Home?

An affordable modular home offers you the opportunity to live in a beautiful, comfortable living space at an affordable price. As your family grows, you may decide to upgrade your home in order to accommodate your new needs as they arise. No matter what you choose to do with your mobile home, a remodel will add value to your home and increase your level of comfort, whether you decide to change the interior, exterior, or entire house.

The Reasons You Should Remodel Your Module Home

Here are some of the reasons why remodeling your home might be something you would like to consider in the near future. As we progress, we will also provide you with some examples of what type of projects you may consider/undertake later on in this article.

1. To Add Value

In the modular home industry, this is one of the most hotly debated topics. In order to increase the value of a modular house, is it worth remodeling or renovating it?

Is it possible that depreciation will reduce the value of the upgrades as well due to depreciation? Furthermore, is it worth the effort to increase the value of something that is considered by some to be temporary housing in the first place?

In most cases, these questions are rooted in longstanding stereotypes and confusion about modular homes. Module homes are often confused with mobile homes, but they were defined in the 1970s. Traditionally built homes are as efficient as modular homes nowadays. Modular homes are safe and durable thanks to quality control and adherence to local building codes

Module homes of today aren’t nearly as “temporary” as the homes of yesteryear. The new construction standards (captured in the HUD Code) mean homes last much longer and approach the quality of the real estate. Some homes come with guarantees of up to 50 years. Since they are quite new, we don’t yet know for sure how long they will last, but a generation or two is a safe enough bet for a well-cared-for-home.

It has to be said that the U.S. is currently experiencing a housing crisis, where just about any type of housing is considered valuable in the U.S. As a result, there is an increase in demand for manufactured homes as more and more people are unable to afford the real estate that has entered the market.

2. Renovation Timeline

When you renovate a modular home, you would need to replace all the existing components that are currently installed in the home. In order to accomplish this, either the current setup of your modules needs to be modified or the modules of your house need to be replaced entirely.

Due to the lack of destruction, renovating modular homes would be much faster than renovating regular homes. It is merely a matter of replacing the pieces that you have taken out of the game. One of the most important points as to why modular homes are such a sustainable choice is because they can be easily changed to accommodate different homeowners and the same modules can, in fact, be repurposed to suit a variety of different needs.

3. Enhance Your Sales Potential

The manufactured home retail market is changing, as we mentioned earlier in this article. There are more buyers in the market for real estate than usual at the moment. In other words, these buyers are appreciative of upgrades, renewals, etc.

It is important to make your home more attractive to buyers by putting effort into it, especially by installing special features such as hot tubs, fireplaces, etc., that can make your home more appealing to buyers. If you want to rent your home out, this could also be very helpful to you in attracting tenants.

Storage

What do you consider essential in a home?

There is a good chance that one of these features is adequate storage. Potential buyers have crossed a house off their list because there isn’t enough space for their belongings.

Therefore, more storage space is a high-value addition to any modular home. Most people will look for a place to store their extra clothing, photo albums, and holiday decorations.

Furthermore, modular homeowners can maximize storage by installing extra shelves in the kitchen and throughout the home. A room becomes more functional and aesthetic as a result.

While you are showing the home, the additional space will allow you to declutter.

Floors

One of the biggest tasks in transforming your modular home is preparing the floors.

The main concern here should be that they look neat and well-maintained. Wood floors should be sanded and varnished.

Unfortunately, it can take a lot of time and effort. Consider replacing cracked or broken panels or tiles.

Place some fat and plump rugs on the floor to make the room appear cozier and warmer.
